I'm looking to haul my New Jersey registered 14' vee down to either Wye Mills area or Kent Island area.
I believe there are ramp fees involved at public ramps, but what about private docks like Schnaitman's?
If any of you guys from NJ. PA, or DE, do this I looking for a one or two trip run, so a seasonal pass is a waste.
ALso I'm trying to weigh costs of towing vs just renting a boat, trouble is I have a 30HP omc, AND I doubt if those old boats can handle it's weight let alone its power!
Thanks for any input, tedbo

From what i understand there are two fees you have to pay one is a 20somthing sticker you put on your trailer and the other is a parking fee 4-5$
Thats why i'm looking for the private dock too. you can get one at any bait shop or wallmart!

The boat ramp at the wye, next to Schnaitman, is a Talbot county ramp. Schnaitman has nothing to do with it.
I bought a Talbot county ramp permit throught the mail. Cost $10 and took about a 1 1/2 week to get. Well worth it. Day passes in OCNJ can be as high as $15 on weekends. Get there early or you will have a long walk after parking your car/trailer.
If you like your boat, my vote would be to get the permit and take it.
I don't know of any regs different between NJ and MD (boating, not crabbing). You can use your NJ regestered boat in MD. I live in PA and have used my boat in PA, NJ and MD.
Call Talbot County Park Service for details on how to get the permit.

If you didn't know this...THE EASTERN SHORE OF MARYLAND WAS WIPED OUT BY A TSUNAMI TWO WEEKS AGO...as you can see...it would be not worth it to come down now. Sorry for the bad news.

MC - I heard the tsunami did a lot of damage, but it really didn't matter anyway. The crabs have left the eastern shore, especially the Wye/Tred area. Hopefully they'll be back sometime. Or were they all crabbed out?

I know as much about why there are smaller catches as the guy in Germany eating his sauerkraut for dinner right now. Who knows...things were great in the beginning of the season...lets just hope this is a short "dry" spell that will soon be quenched.
