Serious question about crabbing on the Navesink
«
on:
July 14, 2007, 02:29:05 AM »
Ok, as some of you might know already I am planning on heading out to the Navesink next Sunday for a day full of crabbing. I'm going to rent a boat out of Oceanic and spend the whole day (7 am til 4:45 pm) crabbing my face off... but I have only one concern...
...
where do I relieve myself?
...
This is a serious question... I mean I am a chick, so I can just lean over the boat and let loose like all you fellas can.
Is there anywhere I can just get off the boat somewhere?
Thanks in advance!!!!!

Out on Long Island, NY, when we went out as a group on speedboats, the ladies used a cup or bucket while we turned our backs and turned the radio up. No big deal.

I'd advise a cup or container If you are going the whole day and drinking fluids you will be making too too too may trips back to the marina

Where you will be crabbing, no there really isn't anywhere to hop off the boat (besides going in the water, but watch out for the jelly fish) unless you want to give people a free show.
Just go back to the Oceanic Marina, you are only going to be crabbing a 3-4 minute ride away from it. Or bring some kind of container to squat and pee in...
How are you crabbing? Handlines? Traps? Ring nets? I'm gonna send you a map of where to crab, depending on your method.

It's going to either be a container or going back, probably a container because I'm sure the beer will go rightttttt through me eventually.
As for my crabbing method...all of the above. I have traps, ring nets, and I was planning on scooping em with hand lines. Thank you in advance GKranger!!!

"Are you going alone?" Ha ha, I never heard this question posed to any of the men on this forum. Hey gkrangers, try "can I bait that trap for you?" or "well, it looks like a 5 incher but it's really 5 and a half."

People get together all the time on here to go crabbing. Tattoo just went with a GIRL (gasp)!
I'd offer to go with him too if I didn't believe he was just some robot that would constantly say "Great pull!", "Great job baiting that trap", etc after every thing.

Going to the Wye?
I guess the only reason I'd want to crab their is to actually see what a bushel of 7" crabs looks like.
I can bushel out in 3 hours in NJ, but there might be 1 7" crab in the whole bunch.

Yes going to the WYE. those M.D. crabs tend to spoil you after you catch a few of them.
