Lotta times I don't have time to prepare an actual bisque, but I find I can still get compliments with a fake. Try this, you might be surprised.

Pick a pound of crab.
melt half a stick of butter, and saute the crab for a few minutes in the butter.  add can of tomato soup and a can of cream of asparagus soup,  and (1) can of light cream.

Heat to a very gentle simmer and add a shake of old bay, some cracked pepper, and when it's good and warm, give it about two ounces of good sherry.

For soemthing that takes 10 minutes, you'll be surprised!

PS don't tell anyone you didn't start from scratch

I've tried cream of mushroom, but it didn't "fit" so to speak. CofA seemed to do the trick

Maybe I'll try it this weekend.  I'll be heading down to the shore with crabs a plenty!
