I do a lot of handlining and have been looking to get a wire mesh scoop net . I only can find the green vinyl scoop nets which the crabs get tangled in. Anyone know of a shop or an online place to buy one Thanks

Tattoo, I guess I could but I know that it would not be as good as a real one. I saw one for sale in WalMart a few years ago but all of the tackle shops near me in central NJ dont carry them. By the way I met Beth yesterday at the boat ramp in the Shrewsbury River. Boy is she dedicated to crabbing. Her boat was loaded with gear. Real nice person. Mentioned that she has taken you on some crabbing trips. Still should have good crabbing for 6-8 weeks.

We made one out of an old flounder net and put chicken wire on it.It is about one foot deep and two foot around works really good for hand lining and it was easy to make. Crabs fall out easily when you turn it over and they don't get stuck/JOHN

bought one today. 15.99 at L.E. Hitch & Son. They work well, but i always worry that ones that sometimes slip out of the sides might have been keepers.  laugh laugh

thought jeff{seaweed} and i have had our differences in the past on a few topics, i have one of his handmade nets and although a little more than i would spend on a net i have to say it is quality 1. the stainless welds are perfect and the nets are the strongest i have ever seen. excellent product that shows no wear and tare from this past season.

I have 4 or 5 left... a few with wooden handles, and a few with aluminum handles.  I have had a few people that bought them report back that they really like them, and they used them this season, so thats good news Grin

Let me know if you need one.

Saw this ad in a local want ad called HoCoMo Freddies, he has a net, traps and a trotline for decent price.  No affiliation, just passing along.

Crabbing Supplies, (11) box type crab traps, $3/ea; wire mesh crabbing net, $13; 1000' trot line w/clips & basket, $30, Phil 410-489-5149.

I started the season with a wire net that had a 5' handle.  Bought another from eastern Marine that was about 6.5'.  Depending on where you are crabbing, it could make a difference.

The aluminum handles on mine are almost 6.5' +/-  You can easily cut them down to whatever length you like.  They are heavy-gauge rake handles.  The wooden handles are 6' and I spray them with a few coats of helmsman varnish.

They make excellent Christmas gifts Grin

Seaweed,
Do you have any of your nets available? I'd like to buy one from you if you do. Talk to you soon. Thanks.
