Bottom feeder,
That is an exceptional animal!!  No story to go along with it??? I know all of us deer hunters have a story! I bagged my first of the season this weekend as well. Little Doe. Sure isn't worthy of a picture  (especially next to that) but, hey, it's meat right?Huh?

Great Buck man!! good job and congrats!!

Got to love crab shacks humor, AS for a story , I have been trophy hunting because of the warm weather.  I have been  looking for one deer that must have a 30" spread, and at least 10 points . He is probally this guys offspring ......"as deer get old they can't produce the big width ,but still grow alot of points". I watched the monster all summer , and saw him last week in the soybean field .   I was  hunting a valley that runs into the woods from the pond over flow,100 yard from the soy field, real nice spot............looks like I-95  of deer roads. Well I had watched numorous deer go by,just as I was about done for the evening,I saw the white tips of his rack in the bush. He took two steps out and turned back into the woods.gave me just enough time to see  5 points on the on side. Shocked Five minutes later he came back out ,20 yards futher away,...... now about 60 yards from me ,it was clear so Itook the shot. He must have lunged forward cause I hit him back futher than I had aimed, elevation was perfect. He only made a 50 yard dash before he crashed, to my amazement........... Roll Eyes Huh  It was real fun pull'in him up the valley, but worth it.............. FOR THE RECORD MY BOW IS A 175LB DRAW CROSS  I AN'T NO ROBIN HOOD    laugh :laugh:60 yards not with a compound  Lips Sealed Lips Sealed Lips Sealed Grin Grin

......did you hit him in the liver or spleen? I have hit a few deer in the spleen and liver by accident...poor shooting, however, they never went more than 10-15 yds before expiring. Seems like a very effective shot.................now, if I could only hit them on purpose!!!

Again, that is a handsome buck, thanks for posting the pics and the story.

BF,

I was like Holy S*&^!!! when you said 60 yard shot...then I kept reading and laughed. Still, that's a heck of a shot. Great story. Funny, Mine was a ham shot...bad shot as well, but those ham shots work as well. That artery back there...wew!! Now, IF I COULD ONLY DO IT ON PURPOSE....hmmm, sounds familiar?? Sounds like a terrific piece of property. Congrats again!! Kepp posting your kills!!

BF - Nice buck - I have not been out yet this year too much work- hope to start next week.  Are you having it mounted?  I'm still looking for some private land to hunt on around Howard County.  Have been out last year around the patapsco - but didn't have any luck.

Crabshack - great post - that was a good rack too - I'm sure you are hoping to mount that trophy.
