Anybody know how the crabbing is in this area?  I'm just curious, I travelled through years ago but had no time to stop.  Always liked the look and feel I got there.  Also any info on GA regs would be nice.

Ive commercially crabbed the St. Marys sound and south to Nassau Sound a few years ago in late Dec. early Jan. and the crabbing is pretty good this time of year.  If you cross into Fla. there is new boat ramp on 14Th. St. Fernandina that some of the commercial guys use,  most are real nice and will point you in the right direction.  Good luck.

Thanks for the information.  I'd like to try vacationing in the area with the kids.  Hoping to someday retire somewhere warm, maybe GA.

As for regulations, I believe you have to have a florecent green bobber with your name and phone number if you leave a trap unattended; size is minimum 5" spike to spike except mature females which can be 3".  Other than that, all you need is a Georgia license and you're set.  If you have a Florida ticket, you can crab the St Marys in Georgia, but NOT in Georgia tributaries.  If I'm wrong, I'd like to know, too.  Smiley
