Interested in clam raking without a boat. Any information?

Hello,
I am from Ocean County NJ and am interested in clam raking without a boat. I am looking for as much information as possible. I have never done it but would like to begin. Is there a season for it? When is the best time of day to do it? What is the best location? Is it possible to do it without a boat? Any and all information you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

   i do a lot of scratch raking for clams   walk in to clammin spots    first there is a license needed
   11 $ for residence   20     for out of staters   they can only clsm msy to sept   the limit is 150 clams a day   there are open areas  and closed areas   when you get you license   you will get a book  that has
   the approved areas     i clam all yr  i wear a wet suit   and deep water clam  im 6-2   water up to my arm pits    if you are insterested in going some time pm me     most bait should have rakes    about 25 -30
    mine came from maine and are custom   but regular rakes work just fine   again pm me if you want to go some time  now  or when it gets warmer     happy clammin   
       obtw you can keep all clams 1/1-2 in an over
