I wish the weather would give it a break... Forecast is for lows in the 30's all weekend. Darn water is never going to warm up.   Angry

Doesn't look like the temps around here will get much above 60 'til April.

Just checked the water temp at Thomas point light and its 45 degrees. Still pretty cold  burrrrr. Does water temp effect when the crabs come out of the mud??

usually, depending on where and how deep the buried up into the mud/sand. 50 is the point usually crabs will show some signs of slow movement. At this point (from 50 to 55) they will start to crawl toward harder bottom/upslope, but hang there. The will swim and move to the upper water column somewhere around 60 after that it's all up hill. After water temps exceed 75 to 80+ you'll see them scrambling toward the shallows, (in most cases) Just figure, lots of fresh rain, warm water, crabs move further to the northern bay or heads of creeks. High salinity will push them there as well. I think that sums it up.

Good News, water temp has come up a little. Just measured it at 50~  Bad news is the winds been blowing all night averaging 25 mph with gust to 40 mph. The air temp dropping from 63~ around midnight to 46~ right now.

Water temps will fluctuate allot right now cause we have strong west winds and hi tides flooding the marshes.  the thin water heats up and cools off fast.

Full moon, west winds, we are in for a spring tide this morning. Water is almost over the top of the pier now and we got just about 2 hours to go until hi tide.  Cool

My buddy went down to check on his boat this morn, water was low and boat bumping bottom. He set some pots last week and hasn't been able to check them.
