Hi,I would like to know how to get a commercial crabbing license in NJ?I hear they are hard to come by,but am willing to wait,or purchase one from someone who is getting out of the bussiness or retiring.

is there a commercail fishermens association in nj? if not there are some national and regional commercail fishing newspapers and they have lots of different classifieds in them.

hey PC..check with your local Nj fish and wildlife commission..they'll know...if not, go to your local State Police barracks...they work closely with the game wardens in NJ...I know...I've seen them work in tandem to catch some nitwits who don't follow the specs....

Yes there is a commercial crabbing license in NJ, and yes they are hard to come by, passed on in wills and in families.
If a family member does not want to continue the license it goes into a state lottery and the last time there was a running of the lottery was back in 2000 I think, the waiting list to be considered for the lottery stands at over 600 people I believe they told me, so get in line and maybe your grandson will be able to get one. They are currently considering whether to reduce the number of comercial licenses or not and have been reduceing them by attrition.

PETA likes to buy comm licenses too so you may be competing w/ more people than you think...They get the license and then they just let it go idle...
