The Tomcat is loaded and ready. I'm gonna run to the store for some last minute things and get to sleep if I can. I should get to the Owls Nest by around 6:30. Weather report is still looking decent and the wind should keep the bugs away. Hopefully I'll have my first Jimmy of 2008 boated within the next 10-11 hours. I'll get a report on as soon as I can.

I didn't catch many crabs but had a great time. The water was as high as I've ever seen it. The weather was good except for the wind which made it tough to find a good spot. The two biggest crabs were about 1/8 inch short. I did manage to buy some crabs on the way home to make a batch of crabs and spaghetti. All in all I had a nice day and great finish.

When I was out in Tuckerton two weeks ago, the tide was as high and fast as I have ever seen it, bay water was covering the roads. No full moon then, unless there are several full moons per month now. On my recent trips alone and with friends, we caught nothing but large jimmies - all hardshells. <- The preceding was anecdotal evidence. The following is theoretical -> Kindly explain how a crab who begins molting (peeling) knows to start the process two weeks before a full moon appears, at which time the actual disrobing supposedly occurs.

All I was talking about was the increase of tides due to the gravitational pull of the moon. tides tend to run stronger and higher during the different moon phases. I was not speaking anything of molting.....

two weeks ago would have been a new moon and that has a similiar affect on the tides, but just not to the same degree as a full moon.. BTW, glad you reappeared.....wondering where you went..
Hey Crabby D, I am with you on the full moon, It always creates a higher tide. a new moon will also cause a higher tide. Then there are always flood tides on the srping and fall eqinoxes and too.
Umm I didn't jsut stir the pot did I...? What is molting anyway...?
