Thought I'd share this clip from a newspaper editorial:

Our view: Candidate's record is a contrast to the 1st District's
Baltimore Sun - Opinion
May 15, 2008

"Voters in Maryland's 1st Congressional District have a habit of sending people to Congress with a fondness for the Chesapeake Bay, from former Interior Secretary Rogers C.B. Morton to Wayne T. Gilchrest. The latest Republican vying for that seat, Andy Harris, has an abysmal score on a leading environmental "report card," which he claims is unfair and political…
…The senator's lifetime 9 percent rating (tied for second-worst in the chamber) is still miserable…" [Baltimore Sun, 5.15.08]

"…No current Eastern Shore delegate or senator has as bad a lifetime voting record on environmental issues. And that makes all the more indefensible Mr. Harris' unashamedly poor judgment." [Baltimore Sun, 5.15.08]

That wouldn't have been printed in the always honest, objective, fair and balanced light at the end of the tunnel Sun paper would it? Grin Grin

Given that the Sun is run by human beings, I would say it is on par with every other news organization in the world.  In other words, there is going to be some bias in one direction or another depending on the individuals who comprise the makeup of that particular entity.

What is not subject to interpretation however is Mr. Harris' voting record.  It is what it is.

reading the sun lowers your iq by an average of 10 points,  writing to the sun lowers it by about another 20 points

given that the average iq in MD is 100, this person is probably about a 70, which would make them borderline retarded

Not to get into a political debate here (been there, won't go back) but all statistics on a politicians voting record can be manipulated.  You have no idea what has been attached to an otherwise useful bill to make someone who once supported it to vote against it.  Voting records, just like all politicians lie.

Very true, but I think it's easy to see a pattern in their voting.  Especially in this case.  Either you care about the health of the bay or you don't.  Harris doesn't even pretend to be concerned about the Bay.  Even EJ Pipken was too "liberal" for Harris!  And he was a developer!!!  I just wish we could do away with all these big money lobbyists who buy whatever legislation they need to do what they want.

I really just want to leave this world a little better and a little safer for my daughter.  I just don't know how to do that when we elect officials who only care about lining their own pockets.

THE BOTTOM LINE!!! speaking of the senate.....the Rev Edward Everett Hale, who was the senate chaplain from 1903-09 was asked the question Do you pray for the senators,Dr Hale?"" "no" the chaplain replied,  "I look at the senators and pray for the country."...

Nothing ever changes sad but true Huh Huh Huh Huh
