Only as a last resort may I introduce you to (CLAMBO-NUTRIA KILLER)
. He cleverly disguises himself in the mud and when the dreaded pipe eating nutria swims over him he thrust his spear upward thus disemboweling the varmint & creating a wad of crab bait and some tasty nutria burgers. PS: Bring extra body bags cause sometimes he doesn't know when to stop, or who's friend or foe
IF HE DOES GO AMUCK WELL
JUST STEP ON HIM.... gotta go their coming for me now

I don't even Pete Miller has made anything like that yet. That would make a neat lamp.

if you really wanted revenge you could try what we used to use for rats that went into our shed. not sure how well it would work but if you could find a way to wrap the hose in steel wool when they start chewing on your hose they eat the steel wool and it basically tears their stomach to pieces...no more nutria.

The rodent problem is starting up again. The rodent (or whatever he is) has been getting the bait out of my crab traps! Now, I am mad. He must pay for this........ I have bought a special large trap 12"x13"x37" I will get this rodent (probably an otter) and take his picture before I release him...... I will put the trap on the dock and place a fresh mullet in there every day until I get this thief........ Another thing he does is make loud splashing sounds.... It sounds like a human jumping into the water. And then when you look, you never see anything.

That's what I thought about the Nutria and why it was intrudecd down there, for weed contol I guess in/around the levees
? We have em' here as they migrated??? As well as Muskrats and otters. OPPS I'm wrong about the reason why they are here. Orginally sometime in the 1930's it was brought to La for fur production, instead they got a vegetation destroyer since they consume 25% of their body weight daily. They are vegens where as otters and muskrats will eat some meat. IE turtles fish etc.
Sandy: I want you to kill every gophers on the golf course!
Carl Spackler: Correct me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they're gonna lock me up and throw away the key...
Sandy: Not golfers, you great fool! Gophers! The *little* *brown*, *furry* *rodents* -!
Carl Spackler: We can do that; we don't even have to have a reason. All right, let's do the same thing, but with gophers -!

Sounds to me like you need a new dog, or you could always try Clambo - Nutria Killer.

Wrap your tubing in wire or buy thin wall galvanized pipe intended for wiring (EMT) to encase it.

Wrap your tubing in wire
Then plug it in.
When the breaker trips, go and check, you probably got yourself a varmint.
