Hi,
Where in central NJ are you? You can try local supermarkets(talk to a butcher in the meat dept.) or butcher shops. There's a place in Voorhees, that sells chicken parts. You can get a 40lb flat of skinless necks for $16. If that's too much and you don't have a freezer you can always bring a friend....

I get mine in Chester PA right at the end of the Comm Barry Bribge. If anybody doesn't want to make the trip to PA I work in swedesboro and will gladly pick em up for ya, just send me a Bmail. They come in 3lb or 20lb. The palce is called Yanks Farms on Concor Rd in Chester if ya want to give em a call about anything else. It'd be my pleasure to pick it up on the way in and you can grab em whenever. The service is free but the chicken I get paid back for
Anyway, it'' save ya $3 in tools and I don't want anything out of it, just like to put names to faces when I meet new people.

You can also try Bringhurst Meats in Berlin on RT 536. They have a web site if you Google it. 40 lbs chicken backs for $15. I know it's backs, not necks, but the price is right if you're close.

Thanks Crabshack. Went today for a flat of necks. Much easier in my opinion. Each neck is a single bait with no cutting like with backs. Some of the large necks I cut in two. Easy to bag & freeze plus I expect the baiting to be easier too. I brought a 40 qt Igloo (my crab cooler) & dumped the flat of necks right in. Kept them cold & didn't have to throw that stinky box in my trash since they kept it.
By the way, the folks at Moyer Mitchell were so nice. The gal at the counter asked if I was a crabber. I said yes, have you been getting a lot of new business? She said yeah, some - I guess we're on somebody's web site. I told her all about BCA & she asked me where to go for hand lining. Of course I told her to do a search here. Great folks.

I usually get 40 lb bags when I am out in Amish country near Lancaster. If you call any of the poultry/meat markets before you go out, they will have a bag waiting for you upon your arrival. They range between $13-$15 bucks a bag.

I just dont know what the [Sam Hill] i would do with all those necks. and having so many would just MAKE me have to go crabbing...

i break 40 lbs down into 6-7 bags. usually 40-50 necks are in each bag. i use 1 bag per trip when i use 30 traps.sometime some leftovers and sometimes use it all. if necks are small i use 2 in a trap. plus you can get to the bottom of the box and look for the special cocks crown, or foot or head or something laying in the bottom....

If you don't need that many.....split the amount (and cost) with a friend or friends....

The last box I bought had about 5 heads still attached to the necks and at least a dozen wings. I think they were Tyler brand or something like that. That's the last time I buy that kind. I got a 5 pounds of stuff I couldn't use for bait. The ones I bought at Mars were perfect and only had one or two wings in the box.
