is there any way to get jersey to up the legal size of the blue crab to at least 5"?
and to make posession of all females prohibited?

then i guess crabbing in jersey is gonna continue to get worse and worse every year.
when a 4.5in crab moltes, it grows to 6in.
throw 'em back, let 'em grow, let 'em breed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People keeping 4.5"ers is not the problem.  The problem is people keeping every single crab they catch.

Pete, I'm with you. We're lucky that we don't have as severe a problem as other areas with declining numbers. But we all know its only a matter of time.

I live near the marine field office for my area. I'm not sure what the process is for having a rule change considered, but I will stop in on Monday and see if anyone can help me.

I will keep everyone posted as to what they tell me. Hopefully there is a way we can petition for a rule review of some sort.  Smiley
