I am new to crab fishing and I have just gone once today to find crabs at Wareham from reading posts here (I am from Boston). I think it is fun and would like to try more so I would like some help. I first went to Onset beach for a swim and starting fishing there on the dock. I got a lot of blue crabs and spider crabs (ugly!), but all of them are too small. I saw a post from masspi about a place at Briarwood beach near route 6 and tried that as well with no luck.

Are there any maps of the area where I can fish for crabs? An email or post here would be helpful. pinglee80@gmail.com
What are the good months for crabbing? How late can it get and still get crabs?
What do people mean by Neckers and Scappers?
Any other hints I should know about for crab fishing?

Thanks. Crabbing is fun and would like to do it more often.

Also planning on going to the Weweantic river tomorrow, but not really sure where. I saw a boat ramp on I-195 on google maps so might try that. If you see this, let me know before I head out tomorrow. It would be very helpful thanks.
