We live in Pennsylvania just north of the Mason Dixon line.  We've been looking for a good place to crab...some place accessible for someone without a boat.  Sure could use all the input we can get.

Last year we went to Matapeake....day trips mostly.  Thought about going down to Solomon's where I used to crab as a kid.

I would suggest you check out maps of the areas around the Delaware Bay that are closest to ya. Any place where roads cross creeks or public boat ramps or parks/wildlife areas. Watch for signs on restrictions, but alot of these areas permit shore crabbin.

Attached map is an example of several potential areas.

In Deleware - Where Route #9 crosses a creek in New Castle or where it crosses areas down by the "Woodland Beach Wild Life Area"

In New Jersey - Where #623 crosses creek on county line or the area around "Mad Horse Creek Wild Life Area"

Best of luck!!!

I crab the West River it is just a little south of Annapolis, MD . I run about 1000 ft of trotline usually use chicken necks, but occ. switch over to bull lips later in the season. Just a few more more weeks and we'll give it a try. I usually post updates in the crabbing reports. Good luck to All!

Yup...Jack said it first. Samething.

Pleasure boaters call it " seaweeds "

Fisherman/crabbers call it " grass "

Scientist and politically correct types call it " SAV "

I apologize for the confusion. Thought I may be responding to a higher pedigree...    Shocked

I call it that sh*t that keeps snapping my line when I'm fishing. ha

whoops sorry. I live with some children but they have mouths that would make a sailor's ears bleed... So I guess I think nothing of it really. I'll try to curb the lingo. Also, tonight me and my sister had a nice outing... We raked in 21 crabs, 6 keepers... Seaside. It was nice. Ran into some cool people... Some dude from Boston that NEVER saw a live crab before so I let him bring one of my handlines up and I netted one for him. It was a tiny one and I told him to throw it back but he was so amped about it that he kept it and ran off. I dunno man, some weird people on this earth... But yeah, then there were these other dudes and some hot chick... They kept calling me "Mike" cause I had a razor sharp chef knife sticking up out of the pier... Me and my sister had fun. Anyone know of some other places? This was the small marina right before the toms river bridge on the seaside end of it...
