Newbie wants to go catch some crabs

Hi All,

I've never done any catching crabs before but now I decide that this year I'm going to catch some crabs. I have few questions to ask  since I'm a newbie.

1) When is the best time around to catch  crabs?
2) what equipments do you need to catch crabs?
3) Where is the best place to catch some crabs in Long Island and can you eat them afterwords?

Any tips ?
