Are you talking MD or PA?  In MD, they are legal for all.

D,

I was talking MD, but that was years ago when my brother got his dr permited one.  might have been 10 years or more.  I realize they are now legal for anyone. not sure what PA is as I really don't deer hunt there.  I only goose and duck hunt locally.  I think it would be safe to bet that they are not legal in PA w/o medical issue.  The finally just allowed an early black powder season in PA in the past two years or so.  even let you use an inline now.  but late muzzle laoder season is flintlock only... so they are very slow to move on modernizing hunting opportunities.  But again, I don't hunt deer in PA. so I am not an expert on the deer hunting laws in PA other than the basic rules of they got be 6 pt buck one deer and done.  doe is by permit narrowed down to the hunting zone you take her and applied for in sept and maybe you get the permit.  kinda screwed deer hunting up in PA.  IMHO....
