I'm thinking aplus.net (www.aplus.net). $9.95/month hosting, appears to offer everything that the website needs (php, MySQL, multiple domains, etc...)

Sounds as if on Dec 11th, after a few cans of "grog". the unofficial BCA Finance Committee needs to meet!  Someone bring a fake Carvel Hall crab knife to keep Zinski occupied so we can talk! Grin

I think it's safe to assume that they found and fixed the cause of the problem.  Smiley

I just experienced another outage.  Angry

I just signed on with a new hosting company. This one has gotten rave reviews and their price is right.

So, sometime this week, I will be moving everything over to the new server. The forum (and website) will be unavailable during the transition. I'll post a message here before I make the switch.

Ok, I am getting close now.

I plan to take the forum down later this evening, say around 9pm, to get everything moved to the new server.

So, with that said, if you see the forum in "Maintenance Mode" then you'll know what's going on. I expect the move to take about an hour or two.

Let me clarify this statement... I expect to have all of the data moved to the new server in a couple of hours. However, I am at the mercy of the root domain servers when it comes to the pointer change in DNS (the root domain servers must be updated to point "blue-crab.org" to the new server's IP address). Usually this is a fairly quick process, but the standard disclaimer is "please allow 24-48 hours for the change to take effect."  Undecided

One more thing,  all members may not get back to the forum at the same time. So, dont assume that someone is seeing the forum because you can.  It takes time for the new address to spread across the whole world. Wink Cheesy
