Saxis was a island until the cause way was built. Before that the only way to reach Saxis was the hand dug canal.

The town was all about Oysters, Clams, Fish and Crabs.
Things are tough there now. Sign of the times.

How are the real estate prices?
There are a number of small houses for sale in the area. The prices seem high to me but I am out of touch with RE prices today. Water front property is higher of course... If your interested in the area I can hook you up with a really good Realtor.

They get lots of swim time home front.... Fishing is serious business. Pissed off big fish in the cockpit and big dogs don't mix well.

I'll ask around... Probably cheaper to build one like it than to have it moved..

The termites are the only thing holding that thing together. Would be neat though to have that for a man cave.

Inspiration is my middle name, just ask my wife. The screen part of the room would be the most important component if it was down here. I don't know if ya'll have gnats around your water up there, but down here we call them " Flying Teeth" or " Sabertooth Gnats". They will eat you alive on the bayous here and the only thing that will keep them off is a Marlboro for 8 minutes.

One time I was visiting the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum with the family and walked into a wheelhouse exhibit set up on shore like that one. I said to my wife it looked familiar, something about it felt strange. I saw the old cert of documentation on the wall and realized it was a boat I worked on as a kid hauling lube oil. The boat was long gone. It felt strange because I didn't need to stand on a milk crate to look out the windows.
