It should only be fair to include everyone.
Prize to the first 10 +
Tat could have the final say in measurement (If willing). If within the time of verification another is found it will be considered only if the present crab is not legitamate. Regardless if it is larger. FIRST TO PRESENT ACCEPTABLE PICTURES and VERIFIED.
Simply put the time will be documented on the picture. The odds of one being caught at the same minute are in the billions. If it happens you should play the lottery.
Prize is the commendation and temporary bragging rights for the season, or until the next is caught in the following seasons.
If the current posesor of the trophy moves or expires, the trophy will be sent to Tat or someone on the board trusted with the responsibility as decided by constituant parties.
Cheaters will be IGNORED by the participating board.
Some quickies for review guys.

I am working right now for ideas for a trophy. it will have multiple plates for the various winners that will be blank . then all we have to do is send the blank plack back and have the new winner added . then the trophy can move on to the next winner . as i said i am still working on a design , any input will be welcomed.

OK so the "BIG 10" REWARD"
stands at present with rewards coming from these folks
OSB- $25
tugcapt $05
madcrabber1113 $ ?? (maybe I misunderstood "I'm in")
There is also a plaque/trophy being considered to present to the winner.
I will edit the original starting post to reflect what seems to be a general agreement concerning the "contest", eligiblity, verification, and Reward.
If anyone else is willing to sweeten the Reward pot, post up.
While verification is necessary for the Reward,
Each person offering to sweeten the pot will be on the honor system.
If they don't send the winner what they promised it's on them.
Count me in for $10.00
and please, if you re enter my name, it's a L (l) not an I (i)

Think about this ther might want to be a start date and an end dat as to catching the crab . excemple april 1st 2009 to NoV 30th 2009. also might want to make biggest caught 10 plus inches during that time period . say Joe Smith catched 10 incher on april 15 . then Jack Sprat catches a 10 1/4 on July 10th , and that holds untill the end in Nov . Jack is the wimmer . only my sugesstion.

I would like to offer $10.00 toward the winner. My word is as my handshake. As far as plaque input, how about making it in the shape of the state of Mississippi, as that is where I hope it will be coming first.
Seriously though, a large carapace shape might be cool, but not with delicate points on it. Let's get ready to rumble.

BB you are duly noted as a "prize awarder" in the 1st post on this thread.
As for the trophy/plaque, tattoo is working on a killer idea, we will see how that progresses and keep the forum updated.

I rethought this and there should be one figure not fifty so when or if that happens I will agree to one flat figure that is the same for everyone.

If the crab caught is a state record as well, we should help them get a citation and have it posted on the forum with pictures. It would be great to also see pics of the runners-up somewhere on the forum so everyone with the question of "how big do they get?" or "what is the biggest?" can see. The next poll should be what state has the most documented big ones. That would really be cool.

I am not sure I understand you, if you want to withdraw your offer, I will remove it.
I messaged you with my telephone # feel free to call me.
My intent with the prize money being each individuals responsiblity to send to the winner is this
1. to allow anyone offering to sweeten the pot to do so according to what they can afford and are willing to part with.
2. to keep this more or less unofficial, so that Bluecrab.info does not come under any laws regarding prizes or contests
3. to prevent anyone from being put in the position of handling other peoples money and possibly being accused of wrongdoing.
4. to limit any possible cries of collusion as to who is determined to be the winner and who is awarded prize money. If someone offers to put up money or merchandise to the winner it will be up to them to fulfill their word not a middleman.
All that being said, This is supposed to be be fun.
Lets not offer prizes we don't intend to give, as it will take some of the fun of it out and possibly make us look bad.
I also think there should be a $25 limit as to what any individual or entity is adding to the prize.
The idea is for the prize to be an incentive, not a windfall.
However, if I win I want at least enough to buy a case of beer!
