All crabbers are required to have a FIN # even if you are crabbing without a personal license on a licensed vessel.

To generate a FIN number, follow the link below.

http://www.delaware-fin.com/registerfin.asp

You can also get a FIN number by calling 800-432-9228.

Keep in mind that unless you are crabbing from a vessel that has an active boat fishing license decal, you must still get a fishing license to crab in the state of Delaware.

If you get a license from an authorized state agent, they give you a fin number on the spot.

Correct.   It self generates when you get the license.    If you are crabbing without a individual license on a boat, you can get one by calling the 800 number or generating it right on line.

You know, I just double checked.   My FIN was automatically generated this year when I bought my DE Boat Boat fishing license.

For the guys that want to register by phone in Delaware-800-432-9228 automated and it takes a minute and you get your number over the phone to write down.

For Md. registration-855-855-3906 has a live person and it takes 2 minutes and they will mail your card in 7-10 days.  I asked for my number and wrote it down just in case I go out before it comes.

YOU DO NEED IT FOR CRABBING ALSO

I admit I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, but I can't find anywhere where this is shown for Maryland. Can you guide me to this information?

Old Grouchy and I just crab, we don't fish. We've repeatedly asked just about all DNR folks we've come into contact with at boat shows and whereever if we would need this and they have universally told us no - as long as we weren't going to fish, we didn't need it. Now I'd just get the FIN numbers anyway if I thought we'd need it - better safe than sorry and all that good jazz, but do we really need it?

Suzy, they said, when I called, that I needed it, so I got it.  I am going by your plan, better safe than sorry.  After I called they emailed it to me.
