the statment from PETA that they were glad the lobster was released to live out his life in freedom and peace is about the same as PETA changing a fish to a kittens. a fish or lobster does not know peace or freedom, these are human qualitys. so fry the fish or boil the lobster wether it's 100 or 1 theres no differance.

I would have let him go personally, that meat would have been like chewing on a tire anyways. Still trying to figure out how it fit in the trap.

I ate a pound of Shrimp and two and a half pounds of Crab legs on Sunday and I thought I was going to explode. I can't imagine trying to eat a 20 pound Lobster in one sitting.

I caught a 140llb + halibut once and the guide said that the best eating halibuts are "chicken" halibuts.....around the 15lb range. A 140lb fish has to be around 30 years old....meat is a little tough......you wouldn't eat a steak from a 30 year old steer would you? Makes sense...sounds logical.... Question is......is the same true about crustaceans? Is meat from an old lobster tough too?

Biggest one I ever ate was 4 lbs. and it tasted just as good as a 1lb.

"Thought to be 140 years old". No; it's anybodies guess!
He said a lobster's age can be worked out from how much it weighs, with each pound counting for 7 to 10 years. Might work, roughly, for first year only; otherwise not even close.
The truth is no one knows how old a Lobster is. It is an unknown science! Even a marked Lobster will shed its markings within a few years so it must be recaught and remarked, or tagged, every few years. I don't believe its ever been done for any significant length of time.
Sensationalism does sell newsprint though! If it's printed it must be true!
I would like to know how many Lobsters that big one has killed and eaten! I wonder if PETA ever gave that any consideration?

Sorry, but I would have served him up shortly after I told the PETA spokeswoman that I couldn't talk with her anymore because I needed to go "take a PETA and wipe my CCA". Odds are he already did the best part his contributing to his species.
LMAO!!! I wish I could have told them that!
