Maryland Crabs For Sale -- Significantly below market price
Maryland’s crab season opens April 1st! I will keep you updated on how I do. Buy directly from the crabber and save a significant amount of money. I will have crabs for sale every weekday and weekend for the first couple of weeks of April (depending on weather). All the crabs are caught and sold that same day, so they are the freshest available.
#1 males $100 per bushel and females $60 per bushel. I pack my bushels full, so there are approximately 7-8 dozen of #1s per bushel. The crabs in April run very heavy and are some of the best crabs of the year. I also sell crabs by the half bushel and dozen. #1 males $20 per dozen, and $12 per dozen for females.
Soft Crabs will also begin in Mid-May and the price will range from $24 to $30 per dozen (depending on size). Place your order as soon as possible. Please Call 443-858-3475 and feel free to leave a message or reply to
crabs2206@gmail.com
(I check email daily, if you need to contact me sooner, please call). We are locating on Maryland's Eastern Shore, in Snow Hill, MD.

You Yankees beat all, season hasn't even opened yet,you have nothing to sell but you want to cut the price when you do catch somthing.
Why don't you just sign up sponsers for each day and let them pay your expences and you give them what ever you catch that day.

I posted something, then decided to take it down. I didn't feel like I should slam a fellow crabber. Good Luck to you.

This should give some size indication

Looks to me like his number one males will be legal sized crabs. I can't get 7 to 8 dozen number ones in a basket. More like 4 to 5 dozen, culled at 6 inch minimum. He ll, I can't even get 7 to 8 dozen number 2 in my baskets.

I thought the same thing.....7 or 8 dozen in a basket? Yeah, I too wanted to post but didn't want to slam him. Gott'a love this business!
By the way, we are pulling some from Va., nothing to write home about with the size/quality as of yet...water too cold as well.

Hey Guys, the crabs will be running between 5.5 and 6.5 #1's per basket. Most of the crabs will be closer to the 5.5 range. Where I am at, the crabs in April are on the smaller side, but they are heavy and packed with meet. I stuff the bushels full (heaping) and generally get a little over 7 dozen in.
As the summer progresses, Crabs get a lot larger and there is generally 5-6 doz. per bushel.
It is sometimes hard to sell through dealer up here, so I like to sell as many as I can on my own.
Would be happy to answer anymore questions.

While you attempt to cut the throats of the rest of us?
I'm with Rich and Scotty. I can't get 7-8 dozen #2's in my baskets and they are heaping also.

Well, before the season even starts the price for #1 is set at 100? Let the buyer beware. Once again, I had a long post typed, but desided not to flame him personally. Just be wary, people.

This Should be a LESSON to you Crabs2206, Never sell cheap, and NEVER EVER tell how many dozens are in a bushel... And don't fill you baskets too full, they will keep the Number of crabs lower.. ..

Bought a few of those bushels and let me tell ya', ya' better have a ruler next to you cuz some are undersized and most are a hair over, and I mean a hair. Only a couple of med and a scant large here and there, but I have never seen so many tiny, tiny, itty, bitty, super small crabs in my life. Not from this person, but Virginia watermen, they are keeping everything out of the pot just to have crabs to sell. Sad. Oh, and they are NOT CHEAP, they should be due to their size, but they are getting the same price as if they were good sized crabs.......................and the crab eating customer complains to the retailer!!

Crabbers in remote areas are at the mercy of the couple of buyers that they have. Those same crabs that were bought for 35 will be 100-110 by the time they get to the area where there is a retail market.

Rich
At least, depending on where they end up at. In Annapolis, they could be as much as $300 on the right day.

Crabbing isn't any different than any other retail operation. I used to buy a muffler from the middle man for 20 bucks and sell it for 35. When we sold more than the middle man we started buying direct from the manufacturer. The muffler cost 6 bucks from them...
Being a "distributor" is where the real money is...

Lo, yeah, what I meant was that the buyer would pay 35, then transport the crabs to the retailer, and sell them to him for 100-110. That's where the money is in crabs. figure a hundred bushels up the road, well, you do the math
