I changed a setting just now, let's see if that helps.

The forum has over 29,000 posts.  Shocked  Each time a search engine spiders the forum, it has to plow through all those posts which really puts a burden on the server. So, I essentially told search engines not to index the forum. We'll see if that resolves the problem.
But what would a spider have to do with a browser not decoding?  KC says he was locked out at the same time my browser displayed raw code Huh

I'm guessing that the server is getting overloaded, starts timing out, and what you get is all sorts of craziness. This is a guess. If it happens again, then it's obviously not the problem. But, I've reported this about a half dozen times to my hosting provider and I'm not getting any responses from them.  Angry

But, when I got locked out earlier today, I dumped the logs and the site was getting hit by a spider. So, we'll see if there's any correlation.

Ok, looks like I might need to get the site moved to a different server. As you will recall, the last time something like this happened (back in the Spring), my hosting provider did nothing to troubleshoot the problem. I ended up having them move the site to another server which fixed everything.... until now!  Angry

Ok, here's a clue.

Each episode appears to start at 30 minutes past each hour and lasts approximately 15 minutes.

Yeah, I hear you there.... As it stands now, the forum is effectively down for 18 minutes each hour because of this.  Angry

I just talked to my IT guys.  Bear in mind that they work in Cold Fusion.  They think it might be a worm.

We'll have to wait and see. I've reported the problem numerous times. Hopefully this clue will help them solve the problem.

The problem is with the actual server hosting this site, not the software.

No, 3 minutes is too long.

What I meant is hopefully the admins have figured out the problem (they can only troubleshoot the problem when it's happening).

So, this last time, the problem only lasted 3 minutes. Hopefully that means they caught the problem when it was happening and fixed it. We'll see what happens at 8:31pm.
