I use one of them rollers they slide boxes down been useing it for 15 years at least just give it a shot of WD-40 when I get home works great

got with pvc.  easy, and cheap.  Use 2'' or bigger.  the smaller the pvc, the more bumping and bouncing your gonna have when the bait goes over.

Had one on a tug I worked on.  Had some kind of air operated foot "bulb" you would squish to get the rollers going.  It swung out over the wash tub.

For trolines, we just had a 2x , slightly rounded over on the end, nailed to the transom top and rail and either nails or wood dowels for the line to go between.  When we were kids, 200' of line felt like a mile long.
