I've made my statement about pics..
You can believe what you want!! I don't eat pics. There are several on here who have crabbed with me and they can attest or keep quiet. My worst day in the last three years was 3/4 bushel the first week of May last year. The next week, Mutsy and I did 1 1/2 and the following week Pinchy and I did just shy of two bushel. All in the same place. I attended the NJ fisheries council meeting this year and talked to the only comm. crabber on the board. Allowed him to check all my weekly reports before handing them over to the board to show how outdated and screwed up their regs are when it comes to crabbing. You may contact Capt. Chickatano at the Port Republic office and check it out. Even the comm. crabber who considers 50 hotels attached to a line as a trotline was surprised at the numbers. What if I did this 5 days a week ... I'd have to sell crabs just to buy film!!
I ain't spending $200.00 to prove squat. I'll be going back down a week from this Fri. and I'll post a meeting place and time before I go. Bring your camera or yourself and prove it to yourself..
Oh... Jason22, get ready young man. I think I'll have room in two weeks
THIS IS THE NEW KING!!!!!!! just got back from barneget post later.

Believe it people. Pinchy gave me some of the crabs Gramps gave him last year.. They did get 2 bu. Also, why would he lie. The crabs are out there if you know where to get them. I posted pics from Dividing creek the first or 2nd week of April. Also We caught a bu. in 4 hrs in Tuckerton which is just a little ways down from Barnegate.
http://www.bluecrab.info/forum/index.php/topic,32298.0.html
That was May 24th. 3 weeks ago. Last week Pinchy caught 32 keepers from land in Tuckerton using 5 ring traps.. They are there for the crabbers willing to explore and find them. If you want to listen to "other peoples reports" then you are depriving yourself of the chance to get a nice catch. I see crabbers all the time sit in the same spot for 5 hours and catch half a doz. crabs then report they were not running or they werent there.. Well, in that same time I moved 5 or 6 times to find them and caught a bu.
If I believed all the naysayers, I would be waiting for better reports and maybe starting in a week or two. But if I did that, I would not have caught 3 bu. by now. Hey, the more people want to believe the "others poor reports", the more crabs for the likes of Crabbygramps and myself.
All of The "Naysayers" Reports are from Experienced Crabbers that live on or adjacent to the Barnegat Bay. We have been
crabbing the Central Part of the Barnegat Bay for the past 30-40 years and have our 15-20 productive spots that we use.
Simply stated the Crabbing conditions are poor from the 40 Bouy up past the 37 Bridge and into the Toms River at this time.
If anyone is interested in crabbing conditions for the Central Barnegat Bay, to the Rt 37 Bridge, Contact any reputable bait shop or Boat rental facility and ask if their part of Barnegat Bay is "Smokein"
I'm Simply amazed by the out of state folks who can predict or state crabbing conditions in our back yard "The Barnegat Bay"

First we are a bit North Of Gramps and we only crab with 5 to 8 Nets and a few handlines. Everyone has their Secret productive hotspots which are productive every year. The area that he crabs probably is hot in various locations but not in the Central to Northern Part of the Barnegat in Berkley, Toms River, Seasides. Hopefully conditions will change

I consider anything north of Bayville pretty much hit and miss at best. I wouldn't even drive there on a chance that there may be 8 inch crabs there. From Bayville south...to perhaps...er.. ah.. Pensacola would be a better choice than North Joisy. At 67 years old and at least 60 of those summers being spent at the " Joisy" shore, I've stumbled across a few good crabbing and fishing and clamming spots.. I can still go out and get a few dozen blow fish to throw in with the crabs when cooking. Clammed as a comm for a couple years. Don't have to live in an area to know it..
I know "Dogpatch" quite well !! Visited there for over 30 years. No crabs in Dogpatch, but lots of smo's.. and all kinds of "druther's". Lot's of hills and valleys, but no crabs. And I never lived closer than1,000,000,000 miles from Dogpatch. But I know lots about it....

cmon gramps..the crabbers of new jersey seem to have some doubt.....you can fill bushels from the dead sea....you can figure out how to post pictures....do it for elvis
BB Almost forgot...if you'll check some of my posts from the last two years, you'll find that singing " Elvis " songs to the gulls is part of my success formula. And of course "No bad carma allowed on board"
Very, very serious... If you ever find my spot, you can ask anyone about the nut who sings songs to the gulls.....
"Are you lonesome tonight...do you mis.......

Hey Crabbygramps, nice catch. I remember last year, you had some real nice catches too. Think the naysayers may be a bit jealous. Can't say that I kill them every time, but there has been plenty of times I out crabbed most of the locals just by working harder and knowing a trick or two. Sometimes you can catch a bushel while others are catching a dozen. Don't want to overstep my bounds, but if you ever need an extra crabber aboard, I'd love to join you sometime. I'll bring lunch, gas money and of course... a camera that doesn't work!
