Myself and my wife and her girl friend launched in Redbank at 0800 and wove our way through all of the renters, did not stop to crab in this area but saw people catching we were on a mission got some good intel from a friend who knows a commercial crabber up in oceanport we arrived in the area at 0845 and double anchored in 6.5 feet of water. using 8 handlines and chicken backs and fatty thighs we started to catch right away lots of big females loaded with eggs we must have caught 10 within the first 20 minutes but also got lots of decent size males not huge but many 5.5-6" ones. By 1100 we caught 38 we decided to make a move cause we started to get a lot of spider crabs man are they ugly, we headed a bit west of where we were and again lots of she crabs busting with eggs this should be a good sign for next year, last year we mostly caught males. By 1300 we had enough ended up with a full bushel. we kept some of the larger females but released well over 30. Great day on the water.

I am sure the king threw the ladies with eggs back into the water.
