You got it Larry. I use the 'disposable' sandwich boxes, Ziplock makes 'em. Put crabmeat in the box and leave room for about a 1/4" water. Freeze solid then add enough water to cover, replace the lid and 'burp' out as much air as you can and put back in the freezer. Totally prevents freezer burn.  Cool And they stack up neatly. To thaw it out, run a little warm water over the container and then pop out the block. Put the frozen block in a mesh strainer over a bowl in the fridge to catch the water as it thaws. Hey, it ain't like fresh crabmeat, but it sure is good in January on a snowy day.

Thanks!  I'll give it a whirl with some of the meat I gather from the weekend.  I'll add it in the freezer to the crab spaghetti sauce and the crab soup for the winter.   Smiley

Hmmm, how in tarnation do you do that?  You just put the living crab in the freezer?  What do you put them in?  A tupperware?  Or do you vacuum pack them alive and then freeze them?

If you read the "Ice slurry" thread it says that by freezing them whole, live they will be good for up to 18 hours or something along that line.

I just started doing it that way in my garage's monster freezer.
