My cousin and I dropped our four crab pots in about 10 feet of water on the bayside of the 559 bridge coming out of Patcong.    That report to come tomorrow after we pick them up.

We took advantage of the warm weather and did a little clamming today.    Worked the area off parkway exit 29, and did ok.   Collectively we took in about 150 clams in about two hours working in water no more than 2.5 deep.    90% of them were nice tops.

That will probably be the last time we clam this year without donning the wetsuits.

Ron, any suggestions on spots to try from a boat with a clam rake?  I picked up a nice Shinnecock rake & still haven't used it.

No.   I clammed in that a couple of times after that, but it had been cleaned out pretty good, so I started poking around elsewhere and found this spot a couple of months back.

If you remember where my office is, I was just on the other side of the highway in that little section of bay adjacent to Route 9 by where it hooks back up to the parkway going south.

I can tell you a couple spots, but only if you promise never to utter the term "Shinnecock" to me in person or on these forums again.     Wink

Oh, and the four pots we pulled up today in this miserable weather only had a total of 20 keepers in them.   Sad

Pretty much.    You can clam all around the shallows at the base the Beesley's Point Bridge...
