Take a look at this video and watch closely as the Gaza fisherman sort their catch.

Yeah, but I didn't see them using their trusty Mutzy Measurer. Maybe there size limits are different there.

Reckon that might shed a different light on some of the "Whoa Is Me stuff" around here if one thinks about it - kinda like complaining about having no shoes, until you meet man with no feet.

Some of those looked to be of decent size.

Yeah, they get good blue claws via ballast water... we get Chinese Mitten Crabs.  Not fair.

Must be the Palestinians eating them.  Crabs are not Kosher.

I worked for a bunch of Israelis a few years back - they could put away some crabs. The few that actually kept kosher didn't, but most of them ate crabs whenever they wanted.

My opinion is that rdbeard is correct, they are the blue swimming crab..  in the video, at 1:07, watch closely at the very first picture of crabs in a bin.  you can see the spots on the shells, then during the second view of crabs in the bin, at 1:14, you can see the elongated claws and the spotted shell.  Pause the video and examine the crabs.  It's obvious if you pause.  heres a link to a picture of the asian blue swimming crab

Upon the reviewing the play, there is not enough conclusive evidence to overturn the call of a Blue Crab.   Blue Crabs retain the ball, first and ten on the Asian Swimming Crab's 20 yard line.     Grin

In all seriousness, I am not sure.

after watching that video once i can assure you that those are not the blue crabs we catch here. i am  aso sure that they are not the asain blue swimming crab. those crabs on the video have way too long of claws and legs and the asain crab has a more oval body. must be a half-breed cousin of step-brothers uncle nephew of a blue crab.

Or a blue crab that has adapted.

hate to bust your bubble ronster, but the are blue swimming crabs. to many spots on the shells to be blueclaws and the chance of them getting that many blueclaws is one and a million.
