yea i bet i just came from PA, near Johnstown and [dang] it was freezing, my brother stays in NewKensington,pa right by Pittsburgh and man they got a lot of snow! letme ask you do you guys have a marsh land or cover for crabs or do they mostly flush to the ocean in the winter? Ours here mainly the Female flush to the ocean for the winter and breeding. older males linger behind in the winter in the marsh lands in the mud we seemed to pull a lot of mud covered crabs in the winter and a lot older ones, big but old and beat n up! lol.....but its good though! all year round here!

Im getting into baiting shrimp as well hope i do well there also i use to do it a lot on a buddies boat! pretty cool how they do it!

When the water temps get down below 5o the crabs seem to dissapere, i guess the just bury themselves until the water temps come back up.  Wink

No SandBar is the name of my Boat' and yea it depends on the weather, moons gravity and water levels but yea close to it sometimes 9 feet!
high tide though is a bitch when a storms coming in, not good in beaufort, we are already below sea level , thats why they call us the low country! lol...Smiley

Sorry TheSandBar I worded that poorly (not the first time ,won't be the last). I was commenting on the boat ramp in Port Royal with big board walk/walkway along the shore it was amazing.  We found the whole area very pleasent it's on our list of retirement places.

Have you ever eaten at the "Maryland Fried Chicken" place?

We say we crab year round but after seeing what i saw today it is over down here. We havent had a run of cold weather like this in 20 yrs.  Pulled 250 pots today for 3 bu.  If you worked for someone else you saw how much money people make crabbing now you will get to see how much of that is really profit.

I pulled 35 Wednesday for a bushel and quit disgusted and some boys here pulled 400 for 5 bushel,I just can't make myself keep pulling empty [pots for nothing all day when I know there wont be anything in them next time either.
