For those of you who have boats large enough to accommodate a head that is equipped with a Type One or Two discharge system, Senate Bill 513 and the accompanying House Bill 1257 will make those units illegal to use in Maryland's portion of the Chesapeake Bay.

Type I and Type II Marine Sanitation Devices do a much better job of treating waste than most municipal waste treatment plants located on the Chesapeake.

For those of you who have smaller boats that have no head, use the bucket method and then a casual empty overboard, the maximum fine will be the same, Increased to $10,000.

I urge all to email your senator or delegate and express your opposition to these bills.

I have no problem with that... so long as there are floating rest stops every few miles...

MOST recreational boats don't have any head facilities whatsoever.  What do the legislators think people have for options?  Just hold it?

that of fill up  a bottle or bucket and then dump it once on shore into the nearest gutter that will then wash it back into the bay...  Roll Eyes laugh

again.. they have the big boats with the heads onboard so not their problem.... just ours...

Another joke. Just one sewage spill by Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County or Baltimore City will put more sewage in the Bay in one hour then all of the boats put together will in a year of pumping overboard. Each of those local jurisdictions has several spills every year. How many times have you seen them fined? They just post a sign in an out of the way place warning you to stay out of the water for a few days! Problem solved as far as they are concerned. Angry
