set out 6 test pots in the waterway two days ago and was suprised to find the crabs present and willing. Set out 18 pots in that area and came home with three bushels yesterday on one day soak. My mind is blown. Did not think they would be back yet. Anyone else see this coming or am I just not in the know??

On another site i frequent there was a post 2 days ago. 2 fellas went out gigging for flounder and said they seen ALOT of blue crabs in about 6 ft of water. The were in NC as well. I think they said they were around the ICW and New River Inlet!

I think it will be a very good year here in NC... But the water has to warm up a little more to kick things off...Good work on the early Catch BigE...

Have checked traps daily and have caught 2 bushels a day since setting out with 22 pots. I am pretty close to the inlet and the deeper the water the better right now. Caught mostly jimmies every day with about 15-20 % being females including a 8 3/4 inch monster jimmy yesterday that I plan to mount and add to our shell collection. He was a specimen with no flaws and completely simetrical claw sizes. Will post a pic later today, the camera had dead batts. I am very pleased and suprised with this early bite. Can anyone offer any insight into why they are showing up so early? Last year it was may before I started catching the numbers I am getting right now.
