Hi everybody. I need advices on the rules and regulation in Mississippi. I live around Gulfport/Biloxi area. I have crab trap license. Last week I went to throw my crab trap into the water and left it for about 2-3 days. Everyday I would go and check if any crab in there and take them home. I went there one day and someone took my crabs. The bait box had been empty and the trap bent. Seems like someone trying to beat the [curd] out of my crab trap. I think that is really mean. I reported the incident to DMR. Any advices on hiding my crab trap under something or how to catch the thief? Thanks.

Here in Louisiana we do the recreational pot thing and we keep our pots in view of our camp.if we didnt its a good chance we might have some problems since most of the the time they are staked to the bank with floats on them.( i aint comfortable pulling camper and boat at the same time///However i got a friend that comes with us sometimes and pulls both.but i still keep mine in view of camp...i have a Friend in Texas City thats had 2 pots hide for several years and they have never been found.....You might find you a good hiding place in the highest traffic area near you.

We are thinking about hiding our crab trap under the walking platform at the pier. The bobber attracts the thieves to steal. I guess I have to take it out. lol. Thanks for every advices. I hope I can install some razor in the line so, it cuts their fingers off. That would teach them not to steal from other people. lolol.

There are some crabs that is about 5" in the area. But I did not see the big crabs come in yet. Hopefully they will be here soon. But last 2 weeks I went fishing and see real dolphins swimming very close to in shore. We caught 3 Ground Mullets. They were very good.

Just set em at low tide. Mark off of some land markings. Tie two traps together about 15-20ft. apart. Set one down. Slowly pull out line then set the other. Go back out in a couple days find your landmarkings. Throw out a grapplehook till you get the line and pull up.Works great for lobster pots here in CT.Haven't had a problem since and never lost any gear yet. Goodluck,MAKO.

another trick is to put a cinder block or other heavy object tied 5-10ft. before the crab pot . when the thief pulls your line he gets to the block first and lets it go thinking someone is playing tricks on him.

I often thought about taking the dog along when i go alone. Just tie her up with the boat so no one messes with it until i get back from parkin the truck. She's harmless but when most people see a pitbull they don't wanna find out

She's harmless but when most people see a pitbull they don't wanna find out [Sam Hill] i wont walk up near a boat if a pit was in it about 5 years ago i was staying with family in eden on the easternshore.A guy had 4-5 of them he fought them on the weekends and all anyway one got out was walking up the street all calm wagging his tail for somereason he seen my little cuz about 4 years old went nuts.some friends and i were loading up the truck to go target shooting.dog attacked her ripped her face all apart i grabbed a 6 lenght of 2" schedule 40 pipe and started whaling on that dog didnt do a [dang] thing i grabbed my 10mm shot it in the back leg [dang] near blew it off and still would not let go.so i had no choice but to kill him and the onwer hand the balls enough to grab the pipe and swing on me with a loaded handgun in my hand state police where called christ what a mess that was ever since them seeing what can happen i dont trust them at all and the funny thing was the dog that attack wasnt even a fighting dog at all

Blame the deed not the breed. My female is 8 years old and is almost too friendly!!!Besides the occasional varmint in the yard she isn't and never was aggressive I won't allow it. There is a lot knuckle heads out there ruining it for us good owners.

Was shrimping off the bridge between Whale Harbor and Tiki Bar down in Islamorada Fl. back in the mid eighties. A pit clamped down on a guys Golden. What a mess. This big guy came over with a big thick piece of reedbar. Started bashing the pit in the head with it. Dog would not let go. He eventually killed it. Then it let go. What a mess. I was glad no kids around to witness that one. Golden was pretty torn up. Don't know if he made it. Poor old man who owned it cried like a baby. Very sad sight. MAKO.
