I am looking to take my kids out crabbing in the bristol RI area, and I really don't know the best months or times to go.. I really would like them to catch some! But I have no clue about this.. Thanks for any info u can give me..IE  .. certain months .. high or low  tide??.. so on!

You wanted to know the best months for crabbing in Bristol? It basically depends on the water temperature. They usually start showing up late June, early July, with the best months (for numbers ) being August and September. I have the best luck when I start with an outgoing tide through the low tide. Hope that helps.

Fish the warmmest water months......at night if you can and fish the out going tide.........

Before you try crabbing at night, check the R.I. laws. If I'm not mistaken, you can only crab between sunup and sundown.

Tell me about it. Now they are starting to charge for a salt water fishing license. A shellfishing version is probably soon to follow once the state realizes that they can make a buck or two.

Tell me about it, I live here and I'm a painter,  If your a resident you can crab for free, all others pay. Their is no crabbing at night in RI, every year they bust someone for it, those [dang] clam cops. What do the current Mass. regs Say about non resident night crabbing?        Quag
