Or, is it just lip service because its an election year.

If they are as abundant as described, shouldnt the restrictions on recreational crabbers as well a commercial, be lifted?

Chris,  I see the numbers up, but most are small.  There are alot of just undersized and alot of really tiny crabs.  I can't remember when I saw so many crabs less than an inch in our area in May.  Not alot of big crabs though.  Certainly not the increase that they say there is.  The restrictions were put in place with the stipulation that they would be eased when the spawning age pop. was over 200 mil for 3 consecutive years.  This is the 2nd year the dredge survey showed that level.  One more year and they are suposed to lighten up.  But don't hold your breath.  What DNR taketh, shall never return
