I'll be visiting in the Noank area week of July 5-9.  Will have a boat and would like to do some crabbing with the family.  Can you suggest anyplace special in the Noank, Mystic or Groton LPT area?  Have mostly crabbed in Delaware.  Chicken necks  and shallow water always work there.  I see comments about crabbing at night.  Is that a better time in CT?

Thanks

Find access to any tidal creek and get away from the crowds. I use a 12' flat bottom-trolling motor or oars. Crab like you would in Del. Don't be afraid to venture far upstream. As far as night crabbin goes, that's my favorite. Cruise slowly with flashlight or headlamp and just scoop 6+ inchers. No bait needed as they really light up well in the dark. On good years I can get dozens in 2 hours or so. Quite fun and very tasty. Good luck, you should do great in that area that week.
