I plan to use 10 topless traps with markers and just make rounds on the traps with my kayak, do I need any special license or permit to do this

You can't leave them over nite . unless you using commercial type traps , . and you DO need license

No but legs work just as well , check with some meat markets or grocery stores in you area . sometimes they have them . good luck and HAPPY CRABBING.

good luck . let us know if the work . FYI. the jersey law states you cannot not leave traps un attended . unless you have a COMM license .

You haven't seen the automatic traps that scurry along and suck up crabs with a vacuum like nozzle? They are latest craze in crabbing and all the rage among fashionable crabbers.

automatic crab trap by cuba when the bait is bit triggers the doors to spring shut and then a float rises to the water saying u got a crab, i ordered one will post how it works

Also interested to see how this works out for you.... I also have questions about all of this stuff... On one site it says you can not use 2 traps or lines per person but I see people using tons of traps all the time. And also it say you can not use any type of float with any trap at any time and also that is done always.

That's not correct. You can't have more than two commercial traps or two (maximum length) 150' trot lines in the water as a recreational crabber. You may have any number of handlines or collaspsable/manually operated traps as long as you are actively tending them.

Moyer-Mitchell in Voorhees sells them pre-skinned by the 40lb box for $16. 856-429-2696.

Check with your local meat packer or butcher shop. Up here in Sussex Co. we get chicken backs 40lbs for about 15 bucks! Good luck!
