They refuse to take it out of the display for a actual verifiable measurement.

The weight isn't right for that size crab IMO,before I joined the BCA and everything was about measurement from tip to tip we shed a big male one evening and just before the batter was applied I weighed it at 1 1/2 lbs.Don't know how long it was but batter fried it almost covered a dinner platter.

Yes it was light for the size!

The two biggest/ heaviest Crabs that I caught on Labor Day 1996 were

8-7/8" - 1.375 lbs(1lb-6oz)
8-3/4" - 1.312 lbs(1lb-5oz)

After measurinfg and weighing some other "heavy" crabs found that weight is proportional to point to point distance squared.
Made a excel spread sheet with formula and found it worked for various sizes and also could calc how many crabs of a certain size that it takes to make a bushell.

I agree, until i see one measured point to point that is 10'' I don't think there is one out there. I don't think they live that long to get that size. I think 9 or slightly bigger is as big and old of a crab as your going to find. Put one on a ruler over 10 and i'll believe it.
