Ok so I brought home 3 doz crabs.  Put them in a tupperware bowl and stuck in fridge.  Almost all of them were dead the next afternoon.  Cooked and ate them anyway, but wonder why they didn't stay alive.  Reading the other posts here it would seem that lack of moisture and air.  Any problem with eating crabs that were refridgerated then boiled?

Thanks,
Donny

As far as I know, everyone is fine.  I had no issues.

As far as live vs dormant, I'm pretty sure these were dead.  I've had some in the past from the fridge and they seemed to perk up slowly after I took them out.

The dear wife sealed the lid on the tupperware bowl because they were trying to climb out, I guess we should have popped the top after they calmed down.

Yea a sealed lid was not good................put them in a cooler - open the drain - tilt the cooler so the water can run out - throw a bag of ice on top of the crabs (leave the ice in the bag) and crack the lid - all will be fine.

If I caught em and I know how many hours they might have been dead and how they were kept - I eat them - never had a problem yet - well not in my first life I didn't........................... Grin
