I'm not sure if this is in the right forum but here it goes.

I am headed to Nags head September 18 to 24.

I am on the fence about if I want to take my boat.  I might get a couple of days of fishing by myself and brother in law. I wanted to take my little girl and momma out for a couple of hours on the boat but was thinking if I can/should accomplish this without the boat.

I guess what I am asking is if I should just do a couple of charters during my stay and find a family type boat to take the family on a sight seeing type boat.
I suspect since it is off season I might not find any charters?

What duya think? Take the boat? not?

Do you know of any good charter fishing captains?
What is good fishing during that time of year?

Thanks folks as always.

I can point you to some good inshore captians if you are interested, but keep in mind that costs more than bringing your boat.  I can advise of some capts at both Oregon Inlet FC and Hatteras capts at Teach's , Hatteras Harbor or Odens.  It may also depend on how much you want to spend.  Not sure how big a boat you have and if you would be fishing the sounds or the ocean too... The inlets down there are very tricky too... I have seen experienced Capt's run aground as they are always changing shoals, inlets etc.  If you are interested Bmail me....

what size boat? i was just in AVON last week and did an offshore charter out of hatteras harbor marina(brought back 55 mahi mahi Grin)

charters are pricey we paid almost 300 a person with tip but it was awesome. the channels down there get tight with the ferries and the inlet by hatteras(graveyard of the atlantic) was quite a sight to see it was down right nasty and it was calm that day.

I have a 17ft cc and have been to oregon onlet and kill devil hills and yes my first time in oregon inlet was a pain in the butt (at night).
I figured in September the weather would be very unpredictable and I would be alone on the fishing trips if I took my boat (unless there are any Ncarolinians that would liek to take a ride with me :-)

I just figured I would do an inshore charter and possibly an offshore charter.  Then maybe do some pier or surf fishing.
I am on the fence about it.

I suck as a fisherman so I figured I would pay for some "learning"
