I just noticed that the dockside exam sheet has NO mention of "cushions", only "Rings" and line lengths.
Here is the exam sheet.

It isn't worth the fight for a 7 dollar piece of line.  Plus these same officers frequent the same area, so show them the rule, piss them off and now the have a hard on for you.  So every time they see you.. You are pulled over...  Taking time out of your busy day to get checked over and over for $7.00 worth of line.  My time is worth more than $7.00 to get a case of the butts from someone over being right about something so cheap...  JMO

I agree John, but the trend is what bothers me.  Every year it's something new.... one year is the line on the cushion, then it's the garbage card.... what's next?  They gonna check my headlight fluid? Angry Grin

It's the principle of the matter.  The rules say one thing, they're enforcing something else.  So they right bogus tickets, that most people will pay because it's too much time and effort to fight.  That is STEALING.

the other point is the new laws reguarding susp. of lic after 2 minor violations. i don't know if this involves saftey rules or not. the officer [female] that i argued with is in a place i don't crab often anymore so i'm not worried about revenge . the dnr cops where i crab 90% of the time treat me fine and usually olny stop me to check saftey equip 1 time a year .

Does anyone on here get HomePort updates from the CG?  You can set up auto updates just like DNR and get the latest changes to the Federal Register and CFR's.  Here is the link

https://homeport.uscg.mil/mycg/portal/ep/channelView.do?channelId=-20581&channelPage=%2Fep%2Fchannel%2Fdefault.jsp&pageTypeId=13489&BV_SessionID=@@@@2139174727.1281661951@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadeleemmfdkcfjgcfgfdffhdghl.0

When stuff changes, you can be on top of it.
