Maryland is one of the only States that does not recognize "any others state" CHP.  When I drive from the shore to my Sisters in PA I pass thru MD's Eastern Shore.  I need to stop at the MD line.  Unload my gun.  Lock it in a gun safe (SUV no trunk). Lock the ammo in another container. Cross MD and undue everything.   Roll Eyes

Yea, that is ridiculous. From what the news says the lawsuit has to do with the fact that you need extreme justification to obtain a permit. I go to school downtown near Baltimore St. and I for one would like to have one.

Having a CHP is a great responsibility.  If you shoot and are unjustified, your in trouble. If you pull and hesitate, the BG will shoot you. My Daddy always told me, "Don't ever point a gun at anything you don't want to shoot. If you point the gun, don't talk to them just squeeze."   Sad

Most CHP holders are more aware of the laws, in general, then those that don't.  Drive the speed limit. Play by the rules. Or lose your right to carry. Ya know what I mean...  Cool

I know exactly what you mean. That is someting everyone should be told, its what I was told. The latest incident we had up here that may help this case was a young researcher that worked for Johns Hopkins was stabbed and killed in baltimore city. He had allready given them his wallet and they stabbed him anyway...people are just sick. I work for an ex city cop and he has a permit even he said you have to be really carefull, he wouldnt even risk carrying his out of state even if the state he is going to honors his permit.

what does a speed limit have to do with a carry permit..Im confused..I was pulled over had my gun taken unloaded and given back to me..I once had my gun taken for 90 days , held in the court house and gave back to me with no questions asked after a cop looked in my car while it was parked and found some thing he was not happy with..lol  I guess its all in the state you live in...Is VA recripricol?? I know NC is when I go to th obx...wasnt sure of VA..I just keep it where it always is and never had any probs...been pulled over 5-6 times with it...in MD as well Wink

I used that to emphasize that I don't even want to get stopped for speeding.  Let alone anything that wold take away my right to carry.

A VA permit is honored in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Be careful in Md.  Md. does not recognize permits from any state. No reciprocal, no nothing.

Justr take a class and get a Non Resident Concealed Carry Permit from Florida or Utah ( I have a Utah) and you can carry in DE.  I don't even carry my PA LTCF with me anymore, just the Utah CCP.

H.R. 822 'National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011'

So.... If this Bill passes, and it's looking good, MD residents may have a chance to CC. Getting a CCP in MD is almost impossible but, one of the Holy Grails of CC is the Utah Nonresident permit.  It's recognized in some like 35 states. Been reading HR822. It sounds to me that if a MD resident gets the Utah nonresident permit, MD will have to allow that person to CC.  This goes for NJ, NY, etc. etc. Now is the time to write your Repesentives.

"Dear xyz,
The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States protects the fundamental right of an individual to keep and bear arms, including for purposes of individual self-defense.

The overwhelming majority of individuals who exercise the right to carry firearms in their own States and other States have proven to be law-abiding, and such carrying has been demonstrated to provide crime prevention or crime resistance benefits for the licensees and for others.

I am a strong advocate of the Second Amendment and I understand that during the next few weeks H.R. 822 will be debated.

I respectfully request that you VOTE IN FAVOR OF H.R. 822 'National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011' and any or all subsequent bills of similar nature in support of a National Right-to-Carry law.

It's high time that Congress starts to take actions and send the clear message to the American people that our Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms in not in jeopardy.

Sincerely, ABC
