Hey Guys.....The GOOD NEWS !
There are plenty of us on here and out on the waterways who are not greedy and RESPECT and appreciate what we have in this great pastime. I’m pretty sure we are the majority.
My Father and Grandfather taught me at a young age to take care of the water and the fish (& crabs) that live in it. I guess they wanted to ensure my kids would enjoy the same experiences that I did…..I now teach my children those same principals…Don’t litter or pollute the water, take only what you will eat and obey the size and possession regulations and laws. I have been playing by the rules for years and I have had very few disappointing trips.
Just my two-cents….I’m off my soap box and back on the boat!
All the best…Low-Tide-Clyde

2 1/2 inch crabs, that is terrible. i think these boat rental owners should disclose this information to the renters. I have been to red bank 3 times and not one time did he tell me the legal size is 4 1/2 inches. Over at Dividing creek they hand out Rulers so you can measure. I think some type of solution should start with the boat rental owners. Also the deckhands should start checking people catch also. I bet if there were fines against the Rental owners if a renter got caught with undersize crabs they would do something about it. I'm not even talking about measuring the entire catch, atleast some type of inspection to let them know there is a possibility they will be caught.

Of course ignorance of the law is no excuse... that aside, I know there is a sign at RBM. I have also seen places that give out gauges, or paint a 4 1/2 black stipe on the boat. I took some 4 1/2 inchers home last week, and I regret the decision. They are too small to bother with.

I have seen the owner of RBM tell certain large groups of boat renters (11 people in 2 boats) what the size limit is. I then witnessed them discussing what he had said in their native tongue outside, and a few were viably upset about the "imposed" limit. The owner told me in private that he often has these discussions, threatening to contact the game warden. He also had the game warden out to catch someone crabbing from the adjoining bridge who was keeping everything by bringing them periodically back to their parked truck. As the warden was tipped off, he approached the crabber, asked to see his catch and he said the small amount of legals he had with him was all he caught. The warden asked to see his truck, made him dump all his crabs back and issued a citation. I believe the folks at RBM want to keep the big crabs as an attraction and do what they can to deter those who don't believe the rules apply to them.

That is good to hear......He knows a good thing is happening this year....and if crabbers take illegal size crabs then the season will end sooner.
