Not to bad on Saturday. Started in the shallows at 5-6 feet. A few small ones here and there. Moved to the deep water 10-12 foot when the tide started out. Put a bushel in the boat in about 2 hours. So overall we where out most of the day until we decided to pick up the line and head for deeper water. Still in the deep water. Maybe next week the will be in the shallows. Alot of little 4 to 5 inchers out there so the season looks very promising. But its just keep getting better.

Rocky point and Carroll Island are producing some good catches now. Change your baits and tactics. laugh

I crabbed at the Hanover Street bridge in the channel and hammered them on Saturday. Like I said we didnt do any good in the shallows so we moved to the channel in 10 -12 foot water. Right in front of Nicks fishhouse. Red day marker at the shoal to the other day marker right before the bridge. My neighbor crabbed there yesterday and came back with 3/4 bushel in 2 hours. Where you crabbing at the bridge. Because they are not on the flat in front of the hospital.

Yes, I was on the Hanover St. bridge, the double span bridge, one the span by the hospital, not the big, ornate Veteren's bridge.

Which bridge are you speaking of?  I tried all along the double span, from the shallow part near the concrete fishing platforms all the way to the center and even the opposite side by the marsh.

Should I be crabbing off the Veteren's bridge?

Do you have a boat? I was running a trot line. In front of the Veterans bridge from the red day marker coming toward the bridge to the other red day marker almost under the bridge. The water is 10-12 foot deep along the channel edge. Give it a try. I will be there Saturday in a white 30 foot alglas. Give me a shout. My boats name in the Phyllis Ann

I'm new to crabbing by boat in this area.  I am docked at Fairview Marina (by Windows on the Bay and Anchor Inn) and was wondering were was the best place to crab.  I was thinking about making a trotline and also wanted to know which bait was hitting the best.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  thank you. help thumbsup

I always crab by the Veterans bridge on Hanover street. I use chicken necks on snods. I run about 1000 - 1200 feet of trot line. lately I have been running in 6-8 foot of water and I have been doing well with that. We have been getting a bushell or two each time out this year in that spot.

Rivercrab:

Do you have any idea why you can catch em from a boat, but we can't catch any from the piers and bridges in Baltimore?

2 weeks ago, crabbing was fairly good on the Patapsco......but it has slowed down considerably......to the point I'm not wasting anymore gas or bait til it picks up again. Somedays last week I had to struggle for just a dozen. I'm not sure if I'm not man enough to crab around Hanover st. bridge. Tongue laugh So them crabs are safe. Wink
.....I really don't know why it has slowed down so much, two weeks ago I was pulling 3-4 bushel a day running 3000' lines in 8 ft. I've tried in shallow and deeper with much less than satisafcatory results. Good Luck out there.

Dont know why, but I only have luck at the edge of the weed beds. Out in the open water lately has been slow. If you guys want to come down when I go out let me know when you are avaiable Ill take you out. I can take 4 extra people. But it has to be on a weekend. Im always looking for a crew. My neighbors come along but alot of times they work the weekend. So let me know. the flat out in the front of the hospital has been slow, but the channel near the weeds has been producing.
