What a joke.  I thought crabs were suppose to be so plentiful this year..  You wouldn't know that if you went to Watermans Crab House in Rock Hall MD.  My wife and I were there this weekend looking to enjoy some of the bountiful harvest of this year.  Their all you can eat crabs were $30 and were told by our waitress they were 'smalls'.  So we asked how much their large crabs were for a dozen...$65....ARE YOU KIDDING ME?Huh  And Im not talking jumbo's either...they were just large crabs..  Don't think we will be going back there anytime soon.  We will be looking for one of those out of the way 'sleepy' kinda places next time.

MHO is it is not a matter of catching them, it is more a matter of size and quality. One Crab shack I have inside information to in my area stated they are having problems getting nice crabs from Maryland and are importing from NC and LA. However once people learn the crabs are from LA they no longer want them. NC seems to have the best going right now.

They also said the best MD crabs are coming from the KI and Wye areas but are hard to get................ok shoot me now please.

Only one i've found to hold its weight is Captain Chris's Crab Shack in North East.  15.95 AYCE.  They're not #1's, but i've always been happy.  Heck their facebook selloffs for all the rainy days have been great for splitting a bushel with neighbors.

Another thumbs up for Captain Chris's!  Great crabs and great people.  Heck, one time earlier this summer i saw some of the help dumping a few baskets of dead loss into the dumpster.  I asked if they were just going to throw the baskets away.  They were more than happy to give me a few.

The only AYCE crabhouse we have found so far to be decent is The Red Roost in Whitehaven,MD.Not only are the crabs great but everything else, especially the fried chicken, very good.Great area if your into the boonies also to mudruck around. We have a place on The Chester and will drive down there just to get good crabs.Almost all the AYCE places we checked into around here (Upper Eastern Shore or DE) are overpriced to me or have no character.

Don't be so naive to everything you read about crabs being plentiful this year.  FYI the "plentiful" crabs are 2-3".  And $30 AYCE is not that bad for this time of year, and the way crabs have been acting.  Also, $65/doz still isn't that bad....considering a bushel of #1s, "not talking jumbos either" are about $200.
