We at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) in Edgewater, MD are looking to purchase mature female blue crabs from multiple river systems throughout Chesapeake Bay. These crabs will be used to examine the chemical components in their shells. We need approximately 2 dozen sooks caught from within each river sampled (not the mainstem Bay). If you are a commercial trotliner crabbing in the Wye River and would be willing to sell us sooks please contact me. We can pick them up live at the dock, from the walk-in or even frozen, as we will be freezing them prior to shell processing - whatever is most convenient to the crabber.

We currently have crabs from several Bay systems, but we still need several more.  I be posting adverts for additional river systems in the Bay shortly.

thanks for your help!
