OK just trying to feel out the intrest. I am thinking of trrying to get a group from th eforum together to do a day of hunting at a pheasant preserve and or sporting clays range. I would appreciate seeing who may be interested and suggestions for locations. Thinking it may be something to do while waiting for the crabs next year. (Still a lot left this year, but never too early to plan ahead). Let me know your thoughts

Yep OLD Posting Generating Interest.............. I am all in for this action.... Especially Sporting Clays.......... Here is a place in Pa that offers both.
I have done the Continental Shoots and Sporting Clays here
http://www.martzs.com/
I know its a drive for most unless here in PA............I am game to come to you also............ Shooting and Crabbing..........I live for both..........I only work to support those habits
There are a few places in my immediate area (York) for Sporting Clays.
Lets get something going on this.........I prefer cooler weather......but any time convenient for all will suffice with me.

I'm up for it. Anyone check with Dick Cheney. See if he wants to go.
Bought a 12 ga. just for block shoots at the Legion. 1967 Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight, bottom ejection. Never went actual hunting with it yet. My old Mossburg 20 ga. works well too. Eh, OK.

I picked up a Stoeger Condor combo a couple years back for around $500. It comes with the 12 and 20 barrels which is perfect for me and my step son shooting clays. It's nothing fancy but it is a well balanced well built gun.

As for the pheasant hunting, if I can make the date, I'm in.

12 ga beretta :-\they seem to never fail. We have taken them apart after waterfoul season and there full of grass and mud but never have not went BOOM. Will take 3.5 inch shells, easy on the arm expecially with the kick off,Light weight but cost $$. Im sure you can get a used one $800 - $1000 maybe less

Browning GTI with 30" barrels and an Remington 1187 Sporting Clays 28" barrel. I prefer the GTI even though the 1187 is a sweetheart. I find the 1187 a bit light which makes it very easy to stop your swing.
The GTI is much heavier, a bit slow getting the swing started, but the weight really helps on the swing through.
When at my prime in sporting clays and skeet, shooting 5000 rounds a year was nothing, sometimes shooting 500 a day was a piece of cake. Seldom did I ever shoot less then 100 rounds a day each time out.
A heavier gun gives you less felt recoil. I would also download my rounds to 1oz loads to save reloading costs and for even less felt recoil. I know I had less shot in the air on each shot but once the recoil factors take over you ability to concentrate really drops off. After shooting 100 or so rounds recoil will have it effects.
The 1187 is near recoilless but I just don't like an autoloader for shooting. It is great if there is a 3 bird shoot taking place, but I would much rather shoot the GTI. The 1187 is a standby spare.
But that was my prime. I have not dropped the pin on a round for a fews years now. My buddy that shot with me died a few years back and it just was never the same after that.
