Need your help?  looking for the experts to give advice on how to freeze or pack crabs?  How do you do it and not make the meat mushy?  How about the claws?

Clean them live before you freeze them.  I put them in ice for a while to get them to go to sleep and then fully clean them prior to feezing.  Have had tehm up to 3 months after catching them and they were still good.

when you say "clean" them do you mean take the top shell of, remove the gills, rinse the guts out, and cut off the face?  and then freeze them raw so you can steam them later?

How do they taste?

Is it against the Law to steam softshells??...   Years back whem my Daddy & I caught softshells, he would steam  two or three on top of the hardshells...    Mom served them on her Special BLTs...
